    summer

writing prompt: who is summer to you summer is the one you’ve always loved. she would come and go throughout your life multiple times, but would always leave behind the best memories for you to savour and cherish along the years. she brings happiness everywhere she goes, shining brightly and showing everyone what she’s capable of. summer is the confident one who loves to show what she has done. although credit is never given to spring who helped along the way, creating something so beautiful with her heartache and pain from what came before. everyone and every little thing smiles when she comes by. savouring this time, and enjoying their time…

    more like friend week

a lil note before we begin: this post was written about my reading week in march of twenty-eighteen. definitely a time that i will forever remember. thanks friends! we hadn’t seen each other since the start of our university careers. it’s been hard getting used to being in a new place without any of you. for the first few months it was really hard on us all, based on our constant messages in between classes. being away from you all is starting to become slightly normal. however, not being able to see you everyday has still not processed in my mind. seeing you all in reading week, was so nice and i’m…

    journaling

I haven’t picked up a pen and properly written about my day or my thoughts or my dreams or what I have seen in so long. I used to keep a diary. and to be honest I still do. I am proud to say that I have come up to at least eight so far. however, the past few years I haven’t been able to write in them. I always pick up a new blank notebook that is ready to be filled by memories, however I always forget. or I always get distracted by a certain point in my life. last year, as in twenty-sixteen, I wrote in my diary…

    memories of twenty-seventeen

dear reader, this past year has definitely been a roller coaster of emotions and memories. i have had many ups and many downs this year. many heartbreaks, many headaches and many memories made through all this. many goals were set. a few broke halfway through due to circumstances and some actually made it through to the other side. my life in general has been kind of rough this past month due to personal matters that I’ve tried to deal with but gave up half way through. the heartache has been enough to last me a while. my year however, was filled with laughs and cries due to a few chapters…

    art adventures

on december nineteen, twenty-seventeen, my friend and I went downtown and had a day filled of art and fun. we laughed, we talked, and we drew. literally. this day was a day dedicated for us to catch up after a few months and to explore the arts we could find in downtown. our first and only stop (or so we thought) was going to the Royal Ontario Museum, or the ROM. we only went their to explore and look around. oh, we also brought our sketchbooks with us. we drew everything we found interesting and beautiful and we went through the entire building while having our sketchbooks in our hands, backpacks on our back, and looking wide-eyed at everything…

    memories in the snow

I am a muslim, as you probably know. I don’t celebrate the holidays that are during this time of year. however, because of school activities and a ton of my close friends being those who celebrate during these holidays, I know a lot about the holidays. specifically the songs and activities that go on. ever since elementary school, we would have these assemblies that would be dedicated to singing the Christmas carols, and we would put on these assemblies that would be dedicated for the holidays. it was a fun time, not gonna lie. apart from what was going on at school, I never really did anything for the holidays,…

    life at university

university. nothing poetic about it. its a place and time filled with hardships and struggles and everything in between. i just started and i have many more years to go. it will become a constant roller coaster filled with ice coffee breaks, hours of note taking and sleeping during lectures while i “rest my hand.” so far, i am really happy with what has come out of my first semester being here. i have takin all the classes that i know that i will love no matter what. it was awful picking them because they are not the ones i need for my degree, but sort of extra while i…
